BIG News!

To contact us Click HERE
My husband and I have been keeping a big secret for the past couple of weeks. We are finally ready to share with you all that we have begun pursuing a 2nd adoption from the island of St. Vincent in the Caribbean!

As many of you know, our Congo adoption process has been extremely long and painful. We are still certain God has a Congolese child planned for our family. After dealing with the recent death of the Congolese baby girl we were matched with for 6 months, we did a lot of praying and wondering what God's plan was for us in this adoption journey. We have never wanted to leave Congo, but after so much hurt and uncertainty we continued to wonder what big plans God had in mind for us..and when those plans would finally be revealed.

It's truly amazing how God led us down this new adoption path. It was a phone call from my sweet adoptive momma friend Sarah on Thursday, May 24th that started it all. She left me a voicemail explaining that she had great friends, Tiffany and Richard, who were in process of adopting a baby girl from a small island in the Caribbean, St. Vincent. Tiffany had reached out to some friends, Sarah included, that a family was needed who was paperwork ready and ready to travel to adopt a little one from St. Vincent. Sarah immediately thought of us (thank God!), called and connected us with Tiffany who explained all the details. I remember Sarah saying, "I know this is completely random..."  It did seem completely random and crazy, but every single day I thank God for how he has been working in this adoption.

There are so many details, too crazy to be written off as simple coincidences, that make it very evident God has orchestrated all of the events of the past couple of weeks. We just discovered our church has a relationship with a church in St. Vincent and several church members have traveled to St. Vincent on mission trips. We had no idea! Brian and I have even talked about how if our Congo adoption would have been completed at this point, we would have never been made aware of this new opportunity. We think God just had two little ones (one from Congo and one from St. Vincent) planned for our family. He knew exactly how to orchestrate every detail to get us to that point. I would have been too fearful to consider another adoption earlier in the process. God is so good and has a perfect plan for all of us!

We are still early on in the St. Vincent adoption process so there's not a lot I can share, but I promise to update as we recieve new information. For now we will be fundraising like crazy to get our little one home. I've begun working on new inventory for my Etsy shop, we will be having a garage sale in 2 weeks, and I've been working a lot as a personal trainer. Money will definitely not keep us from bringing home our child. All we have to do is trust that God will make a way!

Referral

We are thrilled to announce that we received a referral of a 3.5 month old baby girl from St. Vincent! The official referral happened about one week ago. Since then we have been scrambling to do paperwork, preparing to update our homestudy and getting a fundraiser garage sale organized.

I'm happy to say the total amount raised today from the garage sale is $1253! We feel so overwhelmed and blessed by everyone who was involved in making the sale a success. Our neighbors, friends and family donated tables, their time and lots and lots of items. All week we would get a call, text or knock at the door because someone was making another donation. We definitely couldn't have done it without our support system. We are so appreciative!

Now that our house is a complete disaster (it is seriously the craziest I've seen our house, ever!) we have our homestudy tomorrow evening. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful home study worker who was able to work with our schedule and get us squeezed in so quickly.

Adoption is never certain until your child is home and in your arms, but we are feeling so confident with the St. Vincent process. Our coordinator is a wonderful woman who truly and deeply cares for the children of St. Vincent. Every time we communicate with her she reminds us God is in control and that He is working on our behalf. I can't wait to meet her and give her a big hug!

There is a mandatory wait period in St. Vincent from the time relinquishment papers are complete until the time we can travel to get our baby girl. If all goes well, we hope to travel sometime in November. We are so excited about how God has worked out the details of our St. Vincent adoption. It's amazing to think about a month ago Brian nor I had even heard of St. Vincent. Now, we are looking at photos of a sweet, happy and healthy baby girl we hope to call our daughter very soon!

We Survived Another Home Study...

...or perhaps our home study worker survived us!

Garage sale day was a long, hot, tiring (successful!) one, but we had no time to rest after we closed down.  We knew that in just one more day we had an appointment to update our home study. If that wasn't enough, my husband had two mid-terms due for his master's program and he had to pack for church camp. He gets to be a sponsor for a big group of high school kiddos all week at Falls Creek. I can't wait to hear all his stories. :) So after church yesterday the race was on to get the house in a manageable condition, get two papers written, pack, and work on adoption paperwork. You get a little glimpse at what kept me going all day in the above picture. Look at those rolls! I can't wait to squeeze her!

Our home study worker, who had previously updated our home study for Congo, arrived shortly after 8pm. Seriously, she is awesome. If you are in the OKC area please contact me if you are interested in an amazing home study worker at an affordable price too! It's kind of funny to think how meticulous we were in cleaning and preparing the house and getting ourselves looking so presentable for the first home study. This time we were still getting the boys in bed when our lovely worker arrived. She has 3 kids thankfully and was able to ignore the screaming fit Caleb had when we put him in his crib and continued working away. We are waiting to complete a few items here and there, but we are so close to getting this home study update checked off the list. It feels great to make progress.

If I had a money tree (ha ha...) I'd jump on a plane to St. Vincent today and give my girl some big cuddles. I can hardly stand it! What gives us so much comfort is knowing how much love Baby E is getting in foster care. She is one happy, healthy little girl!  It will be so much fun when she can come home and join us!

"Hi Baby Girl!"

We had the joy of seeing Baby E with Skype this week. It was absolutely surreal! I'm so thankful my lovely sister in law was able to be a part of it as well. She filmed the live video we were watching plus our reactions to seeing our sweet girl for the first time other than in pictures. Every single day I feel so blessed that God orchestrated our life's events that led us to adopting from St. Vincent. We dream about how God will use us in the future to help the children of SVG.

CVC: no to Rams' Dome plan

To contact us Click HERE
The St. Louis CVC announced this morning its official rejection of the Rams' proposal for improvements to the Edward Jones Dome, submitted last month.

Settlement of the lease goes into arbitration if the Rams and the city have not reached an agreement by June 15th. The CVC claims it's willing to open discussions with the Rams in the next two weeks.

No surprise here yet.

The Rams started getting their 2012 draft class under contract on Friday with the following signings:

4th-round pick Chris Givens
5th-round pick Rokevious Watkins
7th-round pick Aaron Brown
7th-round pick Daryl Richardson

All four players signed four-year deals and are under contract thru the 2015 season. It seems likely the Rams will get the rest of the draft class signed this week.

The Rams have set the practice schedule for this year's training camp. 15 practices will be open to the public. The team will hold this year's scrimmage in the Edward Jones Dome, which should have a far nicer climate than last year's fanbake at Lindenwood University.

Why the Rams haven't signed Janoris Jenkins yet

To contact us Click HERE
According to Jason Cole at Yahoo Sports, the Rams are at a crossroads with Janoris Jenkins because he hasn't followed through with a financial adviser head coach Jeff Fisher insisted he hire. Fisher wants Jenkins to work with Lou Taylor of Brentwood, Tennessee-based Tri Star Sports and Entertainment. Ms. Taylor has managed Fisher's money in the past. More awesomely, she has also had Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan as past clients. (Lohan fired her last year.)

Jenkins worked with a financial adviser in Florida on his own prior to the draft to get his current child-support situation sorted out. He currently has four children with three women, and now has a fourth claiming he is also the father of her child. So you can see where Fisher is coming from. With significant off-the-field distractions, Jenkins could definitely use a full-time manager to keep his family and finances organized, and he can concentrate on covering receivers during the season. Taylor's role would be to handle Jenkins' child-support payments, put him on a budget, and maybe buy him a damn box of Trojans before he catches up with Antonio Cromartie.

But here comes the problem. The CBA doesn't allow teams to require a player to hire a financial adviser at all as a condition of their contract, let alone a specific person. Jenkins is said to be balking at Taylor's fee ($120,000 for four years). I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't like the budget plan drawn up for him, either. The Rams are said to be concerned that Jenkins has got a bunch of people in his ear and don't think he'll be managed effectively by his current mentor and adviser. You can kind of see the way the Rams are already afraid Jenkins will be headed.

But that doesn't mean that Fisher hasn't well overstepped by trying to tell Jenkins exactly where to put his money. Obviously I don't have all the details, but the Yahoo report says the adviser Jenkins worked with previously in Florida is with Merrill Lynch; why not try to work together with him instead of trying to cram Fisher's personal money manager down Jenkins' throat?

The Rams can only pay Jenkins; they can't tell him where and how to spend his money any more than your employer or mine can order us. It appears the Rams trust Jenkins' judgment so little, despite all those reassurances you heard out of Rams Park in the days after the draft, that they'd try to violate the CBA to try to make sure he stays in line. That was kind of the price of drafting him, though, wasn't it?

Maybe this is all a negotiating ploy on the Rams' part to make sure Jenkins hires somebody reputable. They have to, and should, drop the condition that Jenkins hire Taylor immediately. For his part, Jenkins needs to show the good judgment his team doesn't believe he has and get on board with a full-time money manager on his own.

Jenkins follow-up

As reported by Aaron Wilson at scout.com or FoxSports.com or MSN.com or something, word from Janoris Jenkins' agent is that negotiations with the Rams are going just fine. His representatives deny there was ever a promise made that Jenkins would hire a specific financial adviser, i.e. Jeff Fisher's personal money manager Lou Taylor. They also say that Jenkins has retained the Merrill Lynch financial adviser who helped get his child-support payments straightened out prior to the draft. Jenkins' agent also threw in that Jenkins has been a model citizen for the past year and a half and since getting to St. Louis, and fully expects to get a deal done soon.

From here, it looks like Jenkins has taken a responsible course in getting his financial affairs in order and has kept a professional with a reputable firm so things stay in order. If, as Jason Cole's report Friday seems to suggest, Fisher and the Rams don't trust him to the point that they're only happy baby-sitting him via Fisher's personal money manager, maybe they shouldn't have drafted him.

It's one of the rare times RamView agrees with an agent. Let's quit the posturing and get Jenkins under contract.

2012 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Brian Quick WR Appalachian State

To contact us Click HERE
Name: Brian Quick
School: Appalachian State
Position: WR
Height: 6'3
Weight: 220 lbs
40 yard dash: 4.51 (pro day) 4.55 (combine)
Bench Reps: 225x 15

2011 stats:

71 catches - 1096 yards - 11 TDs

Strengths:

Brian's combination of size and speed definitely catches the scouts attention. At 6'3 220 lbs and running consistent forty yard dashes in the 4.5s, Brian has tools to excel in the NFL.

Brian has strong hands and has no issue going up, attacking the ball, and coming down with it. It's easy to see that Brian was a  former stand out basketball player in high school. His coordination for his size is extremely impressive. Quick is good in the open field after the catch and proved difficult for smaller defensive backs to bring him down.

He really first caught my eye at the Senior Bowl. He showed the ability to make difficult catches off of poor QB throws. He also had a few dazzling catches that made observers jaws drop.

Quick is a real raw athlete that under the right tutelage could develop to a productive NFL receiver.

Areas for Improvement:

Still a very raw wide out that could improve on his route running and creating separation from defensive backs. More consistent, disguised routes would help him obtain room from DBs.

I would also like to see Brian catch the ball at its highest point more often. At times he tends to let the ball come into his chest instead of completely extending his arms and catching the ball at the highest point. If Brian doesn't improve in this area then NFL CBs will have no issue knocking the ball right out of his hands.

An NFL WR coach will make Brian his project. Although he doesn't exhibit elite speed it is enough to create some plays in the open field.

Scouts will undoubtedly take into the account that Brian played against easier competition than other receivers. However, he did prove to be extremely productive against that competition.

Some like to point out Brian had 3 catches for 110 yards and a TD against a tough VT defense. However, that was not against all  of their starting defensive backs and had his big catches when they were down 52-0.

Overall:

Brian Quick has good speed for his build, impressive size & body control, and above average open field playmaking ability.

He has all of the tools to become a productive NFL receiver. However, he will need to be coached up and groomed a bit before he reaches his full potential. Quick has an extremely high ceiling and I see him being selected in the late 2nd, Early 3rd round.

Georgia TE Orson Charles Chats with Who's Next Football

Name: Orson CharlesSchool: GeorgiaPosition: Tight End Height: 6'2Weight: 251 lbs40 yard dash: 4.73 (pro-day)Bench: 225 x 35 (combine)
What is your greatest strength on the field?
I would say it’s my versatility. I am able to effectively block the 6-9 technique, then im also able to able to play the flex position and stretch out the field. I am a mismatch for defenses.
What is one area of your game need to improve on the most?
As a competitor,  I want to be the best at every asset of my game. At the next level, the competition is much bigger and faster, so in order to play effectively I need to polish every aspect of my game. Improve on my technique, my hands, blocking, and basically everything so I’m ready to compete at the next level.
How do you feel you performed at the NFL Combine?
My Agent and I sat down and decided what drills I was going to participate in and overall I feel like we did the right thing and walked away feeling real positive about the experience.    What one NFL TE would you say your game resembles the most?             I think it might be pretty hard pin point one NFL TE. However, I feel I have many similarities with TEs such as Dustin Keller, Ben Watson ,Vernon Davis, and Randy McMichael .We share similar sizes and are able to be multi-facet tight ends

Who was the best defensive player you went up against at Georgia?           The one name the pops in my mind first was Jermaine Cunningham of Florida, my sophomore year. Its so tough to choose just one though because week in and week out you go up against some great talent. Even every day in practice I was going up against some great athletes and competitors.
What NFL teams have you met with? Which teams do you have meetings set up with?            I met with 23 different teams at the combine. They had me up at the white board going over different sets and plays, really picking my mind. It was a great experience. My agent and I are setting up meetings with teams pre-draft as well.
What will you do with your first NFL Paycheck?
Pay my tithe to the church and hold onto everything else and save.     Do you feel you are the best TE in the Draft?             I feel like if you ask that question to all the top TEs, they would say they were. You’ve got some great talent in this tight-end class like Fleener, Allen and more. So I would say right now it’s not up to me to say who is the best TE talent but up to the scouts

Orson Charle's response to his March 9th DUI:

"Twitter fam, I would like to sincerely apologize for my actions. I accept full responsibility for the mistake I made this past week. it will never happen again. Im sorry for the embarrassment I put my family , Georgia fans and my God through. I can only pray that you all will forgive me. Thank you for all of your support and I plan on moving forward with the plans that Jesus Christ has set in place for me."

WNF Chats with the TOP NFL Draft LB Prospect BC LB Luke Kuechly

Name: Luke Kuechly
School: Boston College
Height: 6'3
Weight: 242 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 4.5
Bench Reps: 27 Reps

2011 Stats: 191 Tackles, 102 Solo, 2 Ints, 1 TD, Averaged 15.92 tackles a game.

WNF: How do you feel about your overall performance at the NFL Combine?
LK: In my opinion it went really well. All of the time drills I feel that i excelled at and performed real well. I proved myself at the combine and at the BC pro day all I participated in were the position drills.

WNF: What is your greatest strength on the field?
LK: I would have to say my preparation for games. I love to prepare and watch tape of my opponent. This allows me to react quicker to the plays and enables me to play at a much faster pace.

WNF: What is one area of your game where you feel you can improve on the most?
LK: I feel like I can improve on my man coverage only because we ran mainly zone coverage at Boston College. That is the one area where I can see myself making  some significant improvements.

Luke Kuechly Performs position drills at the combine

WNF: If you had to compare yourself to one NFL LB who would it be?
LK: Ive seen a lot of people compare myself to former Dolphin LB Zach Thomas and Cowboy LB Sean Lee. However, my favorite player has always been Ravens LB Ray Lewis.

WNF: What NFL teams have you met or are meeting with?
LK: I met with the Carolina Panthers last week. I am meeting with the Titans this week (8/1/2012) and I'm meeting with the Bengals in April.

WNF: What are you going to do with your first NFL paycheck?
LK: I haven't really put much thought into that. Probably not a whole lot, maybe buy a big ol' couch.

WNF: What are some of the best memories at Boston College? What were some of your best memories with the team?
LK: I would say just being around the guys on the team the whole time. We went to class together, we trained together, we played together. You did almost every single thing with those guys and being around them is something I will carry with me.

WNF: Growing up, who was you favorite player and team.
LK: Growing up in Ohio my favorite team was the Cincinnati Bengals and my favorite player has always been the great Ray Lewis.

Check out highlights of  Luke's final game as an Eagle above. Luke has a great INT for a touchdown.

WNF Chats with Fresno State WR Devon Wylie

Name: Devon Wylie
School: Fresno State
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 5'9
Weight: 197
40 yard dash: 4.37
Vertical: 39"
(All numbers from NFL Combine)

WNF: What would you say is your greatest strength on the field?
DW: I would say it would be my explosiveness with ball, whether it be in the return game or after breaking from a route and catching the ball. I like to think im very elusive once I get the ball in my hands. That would be my greatest strength.

WNF: What is one area of your game you feel you need to improve on?
DW: I'd say I could work on my patience in my route running and not breaking from a route too early.

WNF: How do you feel about your combine performance?
DW: I feel like I did pretty well. I could barely sleep the night before due to the change in time zones so I worked out on very little sleep. I think I could've run a little better on my 40 and would've like to get 40 inches on my vertical which I have gotten while at Fresno State. Other than that, I feel like I performed pretty well.

WNF: Have you met with any NFL teams? Are you meeting with any teams before the Draft?
DW: I fly out soon to meet with some East Coast teams. Other than that I can't really say.

WNF: If you could compare yourself to an NFL player who would it be?
DW: Well since i'm a slot receiver, i've heard the Wes Welker comparisons. In the return game I like to compare myself to a Dante Hall or even Devin Hester. When it comes to play-making ability, I like to think of myself of the Steve Smith type.

WNF: What will you bring to the team that drafts you?
DW: A total versatile player that is dangerous in all aspects, whether it be at gunner, kick returner, punt returner, or wide receiver. They are going to get an overall athlete who gives 100 percent of what he has when the ball is in his hands.

WNF: This WR class is loaded, where do you feel you rank?
DW: I definitely think I'm top 5 but everyone has their own way of looking at it. I feel like I'm a complete receiver that can help a team out in many ways so i'd like to think I am in the top 5.

WNF: What is one thing that the average fan might not know about Devon Wylie.
DW: I consider myself a talented musician. I like to play the guitar and write my own music.

QUICK HITS

Where will you be watching the draft?: My sister's house in CA
Favorite Pre-game music?: AudioSlave
Favorite Food: Mexican
What will you do with your first NFL paycheck: I feel like I am going to put it right in my savings. That will be my first instinct, im kindof stingy. Other than that, maybe a new guitar.

Baylor RB Ike Williams Waits for his NFL Shot

To contact us Click HERE

I K E  W I L L I A MS

Since day one, Baylor RB Ike Williams has had to deal with adversity. Growing up in South Central, LA, Ike’s father was not present during his childhood, and Ike’s mother passed away when he was just 11 years old. Raised by his grandmother and eldest sister, Ike found solace on the gridiron, and dreamed of one day playing in the NFL. But Ike knew he faced a tough road ahead.

Upon graduating high school, Ike had his fair share of Division 1 offers but, due to his GPA, took the junior college route. Los Angeles Southwest Junior College was his first stop, where he led the team with 10 overall touchdowns. From Southwest JC, Ike decided to go to El Camino Junior College, known for producing D1 talent, and held his own in a backfield that boasted 4 Division 1 running backs. He recorded 8 touchdowns, and then chose to finish his career with the Baylor Bears.

Once at Baylor, Ike found himself behind the talented Terrance Gannaway on the RB depth chart, and didn't immediately get his chance to show the talent he truly believed he had. However, he continued to train hard and work out with good friend Robert Griffin, making sure he was prepared when his opportunity came. Ike's time to shine came on Baylor Pro Day, where he put up impressive numbers:

Height: 6 feet
Weight: 205 lbs
40 Yard Dash: 4.37
Broad Jump: 11
Bench Reps: 22
L Drill: 6.69

And NFL teams took notice. Ike says he's willing to do whatever it takes to get his chance in the NFL, whether it be contributing on special teams, at running back, or even in the slot. Ike says that by playing and training with great players like Kendall Wright, RG3, and many others, he knows what it takes to succeed. By working hard and staying humble, Ike hopes to realize his childhood dream to play at the pro level.

With the speed and strength his displayed on Baylor Pro Day, Ike just may get his wish.....

RamView, 7/1: Goodell loves L.A.?

To contact us Click HERE
* What to make of this weekend's proclamation by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell that Los Angeles is ready for an NFL franchise? There seems little question Goodell is saying just that when he's laying out the rules teams must meet if they intend to move to L.A. And heck, he says teams can start applying as soon as 2013. And double heck, the league appears enthused about operating an NFL Network studio and a Hall of Fame out of whatever stadium complex L.A. puts up. Well, strike one for impartiality, huh? And what the hell is wrong with the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio that the NFL thinks it needs another one?

Well, before Stan Kroenke starts firing up the moving vans, there are a few things that could be working in St. Louis' favor, at least for the moment. The most important is time. The Rams can't break the lease with the city until March 2015. Plenty of time for other qualified candidates to step up. Goodell also sounds intent on being as strict with the L.A. process as he has been with Gregg Williams. There'll be no Sooner-style land rushes here. Teams must prove they've made every possible attempt to stay where they are and Goodell also issued a reminder that the whole league decides on relocations, not one team. Relocations (still) (supposedly) have to be approved by a 3/4 vote of the league owners. (Not that it hasn't been worked around or ignored before)

The NFL also continues to pay lip service to the idea that it wants all 32 teams to stay right where they are, and that L.A. is intended as an expansion market. Of course, right there on the league's website, you've got an article that ends by saying fans in San Diego can't feel too comfortable. Strike two for partiality! As happy as I am that article didn't mention St. Louis, that's still another low moment for journalistic ethics on NFL.com.

As for St. Louis - this isn't the kick that could send the Rams down the slippery slope back to the West Coast, but it should be a wake-up call for those who haven't taken the idea of the Rams moving back seriously up until now. The commissioner has said so himself: Los Angeles is competition for cities of teams considering relocation, and the competition is very real.

* The NFL has also made its TV blackout rule 15% less stupid with a change to the policy that takes effect this season. The blackout can be lifted when a team sells 85% of tickets for a given game. Previously a team had to either sell out games entirely or get extensions and exemptions from the league. This is obviously an important rule to St. Louis, where the Rams have had to dodge many potential blackouts over the years. The NFL.com article didn't say if noon Thursday is still the deadline for Sunday games, or if that deadline can be extended as it has in the past.

The weekly magic number for lifting the TV blackout in St. Louis: 56,100 (85% of 66,000).

* Capping it off. The Rams are $3.6 million under the salary cap according to figures just released on NFL.com. Cap space for the rest of the league:

Jacksonville Jaguars: $25,115,885
Tennessee Titans: $19,970,080

Kansas City Chiefs: $16,548,048

Proday results: (NFL CombineOLB averages in parentheses)
4.54 40 (4.73 average –Hoffman-Ellis would have been 2nd-fastest OLB at Combine)
1.5710-yard split
36.5” vertical jump (34.5”)
9'11" broadjump (9'9")

4.33 20-yard shuttle(4.30)

36bench press (23 average – Hoffman-Ellis would have led alllinebackers at Combine and tied for third among allplayers)

Positives:
Strong and quick-footed with excellentstraight-line speed. Runs and tackles well. Breaks down well, takesgood angles, good wrap tackler with snap. Gets good depth in hisdrops and shows he can open up his hips. Productive college playerdespite limited experience. Has makeup to be an impact player onspecial teams.

Negatives:
Short and stocky with short arms.Inexperienced, only one year of high school football due todisciplinary and academic issues. Slow to read and react, has notdeveloped good run instincts. Struggles to stack and shed. Gets stoodup on contact and is easily washed out of plays inside. Lacksquickness to get through traffic or avoid second-level blockers.Inconsistent motor. Does not make many plays in pursuit. Stiff anddoesn't break down well in space. Clumsy-footed and plays with poorbalance. Not comfortable in zone coverage, has to think toomuch.

Compares to: JonAlston, with apologies for the potential jinx.

Fun Facts:A superb all-around athlete, Alex lettered in four sports in highschool, where he played middle linebacker, tight end and punter onthe football team. He played on the gold medal U.S. national15-16-year-old basketball team at the Maccabi International Games, and finished fifth in the state of California in the javelin injunior college.

RamView:“TheHoff” really has me scratching my head, for a couple of reasons. For one, how does one of the fastest, strongest, athletically-giftedLBs out there fall all the way out of the draft? The other is that sofar in OTAs, the Rams have used him mostly in the middle. He hasplayed all over, but seems better-suited for the weak side. He is avery intriguing player in any event. He's a well-regarded collegeplayer who made a lot of impact plays, despite a lack of experiencecompared to other players because of his high school misadventures. The main complaints I see about him – uncertainty, slow to read andreact – are traits of a player who's still pretty raw, which good coaching and plenty ofrepetitions can fix. Hoffman-Ellis looks to me like the perfectexample of a player who can be coached up and developed into an eliteplayer. If he's fully dedicated in training camp, his athletic skillwill eventually put him over the top. I would be rather surprised ifhe cannot at least make this year's practice squad, and from there, turn into something special.

Eldridge suspended

Remember the Rams picking up former Colts and Oklahoma - he was not only Sam Bradford's college teammate, but also his roommate - blocking tight end Brody Eldridge a few weeks ago? Well, you may not have to for long. He has been found in violation of the NFL's ban on performance-enhancing drugs and has been suspended for the first four weeks of the regular season. Seems like Eldridge will have to have one heck of a camp to make up for not being able to take the field until October.

Major:recreation and leisure studies. How did I miss out on this when I wasdeciding on a college major?

Injuries:
2010: Missedseason due to torn ACL. Original injury believed to have occurredduring fall camp. 2009:Missedspring practice due to surgery to repair a torn labrum in his rightshoulder. Original injury believed to have occurred in 2007.
2008:Dislocatedelbow during fall camp and missed season opener. Wore a bracethroughout the season.

Pro day results: (NFLCombine CB averages in parentheses)
4.42 40 (only three CBs at theCombine were faster. Average CB run was 4.57.)
1.50 10-yard split(fastest published time was Janoris Jenkins' 1.47)
39” verticaljump (would have been 2nd-best jump. Average was 34.5.)
10'8"broad jump (would have been top 5 of all DBs. DBs averaged10'0”.)
7.22 3-cone drill (would have been a bottom-5 time. DBsaveraged 6.92.)
4.13 20-yard shuttle (4.12 was average for CBs)
12bench press (DBs averaged 15)

Positives:Fast, competitive and plays physical. Likes to hit. Breaks on theball well. Makes up for his size with good instincts andaggressiveness. Pro day performance showed elite speed andexplosiveness suggesting he's over his ACL injury from 2010.Hard-working, smart player who knows all his teammates' roles onevery play. Contributes as a blitzer and a run supporter and canreturn kicks. Has the athletic ability and mindset to compete for abackup spot.

Negatives:Extensive injury history. Undersized. Already 24. Does not play asquick as his timed speed suggests. Doesn't have a good first step orinitial burst. Plays too high and has poor balance. Doesn't turn andrun well, doesn't mirror well and is pretty easy to fool with a fake.Chops his feet, doesn't change directions well and takes too long toregain top speed. Receivers routinely beat him vertically and he'sslow to react to passes in front of him.

Comparesto: ashorter Justin King (I am so sorry).

Fun Facts:You'd think someone who majored in recreation and leisure in LasVegas would have an exotic hobby like skydiving or parasailing, wouldn't you? Maybe mountain climbing? Not Quinton, who says aboutall he does in his down time is watch TV and maybe play a littlebasketball. Geez, if Las Vegas only had more things to do there...

RamView: Howappropriate that Quinton went to school in Las Vegas, where theychase long shots for a living, because making his living in the NFLlooks like just that. I won't question his athletic ability, desireor smarts. Can the new coaching staff turn a player with Quinton'sskills into a solid pro? It's not impossible. If somebody says theysee a lot of Cortland Finnegan in him, I don't blame them. But youalready know who I see. A player with elite physical ability but whois also oft-injured, doesn't turn and run with receivers well, getsbeaten deep, doesn't react well to plays right in front of him... ifthe Rams really think they can coach up a player with Quinton'sprofile, they probably should have just kept Justin King. Making theroad even tougher, the Rams have a pretty deep logjam at corner, andI don't see what in Quinton's profile translates to a good NFLsafety. My apologies to Quinton, and may he prove me very wrong.

Nick Johnson 5'11" 189
WR,Henderson State

Rankings:
109th-ranked wide receiver by Pro Football Weekly. Graded as a playerwho could make an NFL training camp but will likely need time in adevelopmental league.
NFLDraftScout:140th-ranked WR, free-agent grade.

Biography/honors:
2011:Played in 10 games, starting 7. 35 receptions for 280 yards (8.0 ypc)and 3 TDs. Averaged 22.8 yards on 13 kick returns and 14.9 yards on 9punt returns.
2010:Junior college transfer. Played in 11 games. 31 receptions for 470yards (15.2 ypc) and a TD. Averaged 17.1 yards on 8 kickreturns.

UncleSherman Cocroft played cornerback for 3 NFL teams from 1989-1994.

Major:not reported.

Injuries:none reported.

Pro day stats: (NFLCombine WR averages in parentheses)
(held at Ouachita Baptist.Ouachita Baptist has a pro day?)

4.41 40 (would have been in top10 WRs at Combine, tying Chris Givens. WR average was 4.53)
1.5710-yard split
36” vertical jump (36”)
10'0" broad jump(10'0")
6.86 3-cone drill (6.93)
3.92 20-yard shuttle(would have been fastest time at Combine. WR average was 4.17. Lastyear's fastest shuttle? Austin Pettis, 3.88.)
16 bench press(15)

Positives: Natural receiver with good speed and burst who runs well after thecatch. Has some excellent after-the-catch moves. Effective on smokeroutes and quick screens. Can go up and get it and will go over themiddle. Has quickness and movement skills to be an effective slotreceiver. Has run sub-4.4 in the 40. Couldn't be caught from behindat his level of competition. Picks up playbooks quickly. Showselusiveness and ability to weave through traffic as a kickreturner.

Negatives:Unimpressiveproduction and only seven starts against a low level of competition.Wasn't even Henderson State's leading receiver. Seems to rely almostentirely on speed to get open. One-note receiver who will find thegoing a lot harder against pro-quality talent. Very pedestrian kickreturn numbers. And if he intends to return punts in the NFL, willhave to be a lot smarter about catching in a crowd and will learnfast that you can't win on speed alone. Doesn't have that muchexperience as a receiver or a returner. Is a 49ers fan.

Comparesto: Speedywide receiver from Henderson State? Wish I could say Roy Green. I'llsay Dolphins WR Clyde Gates, even though he was a 4th-roundpick.

FunFacts: A 49er fan sincechildhood, Nick even went so far as to make former 49er QB JeffGarcia his agent. He'd better have a new favorite team now, though.Henderson State and Ouachita State are across the street from oneanother in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and have a rivalry dating back to1895. Every year the visiting team walks to the home team'sstadium.

RamView: Johnsonput up excellent 40 times at one of the NFL Super Regional combines;I'm not sure what else attracted the Rams to him, or where exactly hefits in on the roster. They already have plenty of slot receivers.John Fassel at Oakland tended to prefer crazy-fast players returningkicks; maybe Johnson's getting a chance there despite veryunderwhelming college numbers. He looks very good after the catch;maybe that'll help him stand out in camp. But Johnson looks like justa long-shot stopwatch signing from here. No harm, no foul.

Chanceof making roster: 10%.
