Another fingerprinting appointment checked off the list!

Just wanted to check in and let you all know we are still making progress with our Congolese adoption process. Sometimes it feels like we are trudging uphill...in the snow...with no shoes on..but it's progress none the less! We made the trip to homeland security a couple weeks ago to get re-fingerprinted.  The lady that fingerprinted us actually remembered us from about a year and a half ago!
*Side note-make sure you are moisturizing your hands a couple of weeks up to your fingerprinting appointment unlike I did. The weather is getting cold and dry plus I've been crocheting like crazy so my fingerprints looked horrible! Not that I ever cared before this point, but she was actually unable to get my pinky print to register. Me being the paranoid adoptive mother that I am immediately asked if this uncooperative pinky was going to be the demise of our adoption. She assured me it would not. Do not let this happen to you! ;)

Having to re-fingerprint, update our home study (again!), and all the other fun stuff that we thought we were done with has allowed me to reflect upon our journey. The longer we have had to wait, the more peace God has given me about waiting. I see pictures like the one below (the orphanage where my future child will come from) and I squeeze my boys a little tighter. I am able to overlook some of the things that used to bug me around the house. The crack in the tile and spot on the carpet seem like nothing compared to the reality of millions of children around the world living in run down orphanages and on the streets with no place to call their own. God continues to bless us during our wait. Just yesterday I "met" a sweet mama who is also adopting out of the same orphanage as us. Our future children may be friends now.. and perhaps friends once they are both forever home as well! I've also connected with another mom who has created an organization to assist families interested affordable adoption from Congo called Wren's Song. She just visited the same orphanage pictured below where our future child will live for a while before she is home with us. Please check out the Wren's Song site for more info and check out the amazing low cost for yourself!
We can't wait to celebrate with you when we make some progress. All in His timing!
